Ashlyn Strozier
Lectuer, and Director of Undergraduate Studies Religious Studies- Biography
Dr. Strozier's scholarly interest is attentive to religion, race, and health with a clear focus on religion, gender, and sexuality. She recently defended her dissertation is entitled, “A Womanist Theo-Ethic of Reproductive Freedom: An Ethnographic Study of Black Women's Faith and Reproductive Decisions.” In it, she examines black feminism, ethnography, health policy, and African American religion as she explores black women’s reproductive health.
Dr. Strozier has both pedagogical interest and research interest stemming from her dissertation. In the area of pedagogy, she is exploring equity in the virtual classroom in an article, " I don't want to turn my camera on!" Creating Equitable Virtual Learning Communities. Dr. Strozier is continuing her research in the areas of religion, gender, sexuality, and health focusing the impact male infertility on relationships and the impact Trump politics on mothering in minority communities.
